Master metalsmith Doug Borkman of RISD returns to The Apprenticeshop for his popular bronze casting workshop. This weekend program teaches the basics of bronze casting through making oarlocks and belay pins. Techniques reviewed: pattern making, sand casting, pouring bronze, polishing, and finishing. All tools and materials provided.

Doug Borkman is an expert in metallurgy. He teaches wood and metal shop practice in the RISD BFA and MFA sculpture programs and has previously taught at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine. He has worked on many design projects, including the Providence Children’s Museum and Buddha Bar in NYC, and he has been a consultant for a number of large-scale projects, including a public sculpture for the artist Martin Puryear. http://www.douglasborkman.com/
