HIGH SCHOOL SAILING PROGRAM

Our High School Sailing program combines dingy racing thrills with high school competition with a focus on sailing fast and team racing. For eight weeks, sailors practice twice a week and race at weekend regattas from Portland to Mount Desert Island. The program includes sailors from 8-12th grades from many mid-coast schools and practices in 420s.

The program hosts several area High School Sailing teams from grades 7-12: Camden Hill Regional High School,  Islesboro Central School and the 'Rockland Community' team -for students whose school doesn't have an official sailing team. Schools included on our conglomerate team are the Watershed School, St. George School, Oceanside, Medomak Valley High School, and home-schooled students.

The teams practice twice a week for 8 weeks and have the opportunity the compete in regattas in Maine and New England every weekend. The coach creates a schedule of regattas in the beginning of the season  and decides which sailors will compete. Every sailor will have the opportunity the race in a regatta. New this year, we will sail in a Midcoast League competing against teams from MDI to Boothbay.

A schedule of all official High School Sailing events can be found HERE at the NESSA site. We will have additional (non official) regatta dates posted soon. Regardless of team, all sailors must register with The Apprenticeshop either online, with downloaded form or by calling 594-1800.
